Overview

Spanning the southeast coast of Sri Lanka, Yala is the island’s most celebrated wildlife sanctuary and a breathtaking wilderness of scrub jungle and lagoons. It is world-renowned for having one of the highest leopard densities on earth, offering unparalleled safari experiences. Beyond the predators, the park features diverse ecosystems ranging from monsoon forests to sandy beaches. Whether tracking elusive cats or watching herds of elephants gather by watering holes, Yala provides an immersive encounter with the raw, untamed beauty of nature.

February to June is ideal, as dry weather brings animals out to watering holes, making sightings much more frequent.

Leopard Safaris in Block One offer the best opportunity globally to witness these majestic, elusive predators in their habitat.

Experience luxury glamping tents, eco-friendly jungle lodges, or upscale safari resorts located right on the edge of the park.

Embark on guided 4x4 jeep safaris, enjoy coastal bush walks, or visit the historic Sithulpawwa ancient rock temple.
